FAQs
These are our answers to some of the most Frequently Asked Questions we get about the podcast.
How do you choose your topics?
We have a long ongoing list of over 100 episodes we eventually want to cover. This includes episode suggestions from listeners and from our own lives as 20 something year olds. Each month I choose the 8 episodes for the upcoming month based on my own experiences from the last month, what listeners are asking for, and what's happening in the world.
How to you write and research the episodes?
Writing episodes is a three step process: I begin by brainstorming my general ideas, opinions and prior knowledge on the subject. I then dive into recent and historical academic literature and studies using online journals, newspapers, online articles and interviews, and finally, we nail down the final structure and talking points, including fact checking any data, or references to studies! We want to give you the best evidence for what you're hearing.
Do you have on guests?
We do have on the occasional guests when they have an expertise in a topic we are planning to cover. We also have our famous 12 Days of Guests series in December, where we have on 12 of our favourite people throughout December. If you are an agent or PR firm you can email us at psychologyofyour20s@gmail.com to pitch your client. Please note we get many enquiries so cannot get back to everyone who reaches out.
What equipment and software do you use?
I use two microphones: the Samson Q2U and the Yeti Blue Mic for recording. I edit on Garageband (Apple) and using Auphonic, an online software. The headphones I use are the BOSE Noise Cancelling headphones. The camera I used in the SONY CyberShot RX100.
What is your favourite episode?
I have three favourite episodes that I recommend to every new listener:
1. Episode 104: The psychology of overthinking and indecision
2. Episode 201: 5 scientific ways to ACTUALLY be happier
3. Episode 176: A conversation with my Mum
